くろがねは鉄のことで、木の部分を鉄板でおおったいかめしい門だったためこの名になったといいます。下の段の南側から中の段の表書院（藩政の場）へ通じる櫓門でした。

　“Kurogane” is a word for iron, and it is said that this gate got its name because its wooden parts were covered with sheets of iron. It was a Yagura-mon gate (a gate with a watchtower) that led from the south side of the lower level to the Omote-shoin (place of feudal affairs) in the middle level.

　黑金即指铁，据说木材部分用铁板包覆，极为庄严肃穆而得此名。是从下段南侧通往中段表书院（藩政场所）的橹门。

　구로가네는 철을 뜻하는 말로 나무 부분을 철판으로 덮어 위압감을 주는 문이었기에 붙여진 이름이라고 합니다. 아랫단 남쪽에서 중간 단에 있는 오모테쇼인(정치의 장)으로 통하는 누문이었습니다.
